The ninth Congress of the European Society for Evolutionary Biology was held at the University of Leeds, UK from 18-24 August 2003. With over 800 people attending 30 symposia on processes and mechanisms of evolutionary phenomena.
Plenary speakers
Excellent plenary talks were given by Robert May, Paul Brakefield, Daniel Hartl, Allen Orr and Robert Wayne.
Symposia
The conference was divided into 30 symposia covering a wide range of current evolutionary issues. There were 15 full day symposia with 3 invited speakers and 10/11 20 minute slots for submitted talks, and 15 half day symposia with 2 invited speakers and 4/5 20 minute slots for submitted talks. All symposia had associated posters.
