The ninth Congress of the European Society for Evolutionary Biology will be held at the University of Leeds, UK from 18-24 August 2003. Bookin has closed with over 800 people registered. The structure of the congress will be similar to previous meetings, each day starting with a plenary keynote speaker, followed by parallel symposia. The congress will cover the field of evolutionary biology in a wide sense but with emphasis on processes and mechanisms of evolutionary phenomena. Leeds is Britain's fastest growing city and the university, situated adjacent to the city centre, is the number one choice amongst prospective students so there are plenty of 'leisure options'.
Plenary speakers
We have confirmed plenary talks from Lord Bob May, Paul Brakefield, Daniel Hartl, Allen Orr and Robert Wayne.
Symposia
The conference is dived into 30 symposia covering a wide range of current evolutionary issues. There are 15 full day symposia with 3 invited speakers and 10/11 20 minute slots for submitted talks, and 15 half day symposia with 2 invited speakers and 4/5 20 minute slots for submitted talks. All symposia have associated posters which will be available for viewing throughout the conference and during dedicated poster sessions. A preliminary timetable of symposia is now available.
Preparation of Presentations
Please try and produce your presentation in Powerpoint - detailed presentation guidelines can be found here. All posters have been accepted. Poster boards are velcro fronted and 1m wide and 2m tall, please design your poster to fit within this space.
Excursions
Leeds is situated in the foothills of the Yorkshire Dales National Park and surrounded by other historic towns and areas of natural beauty. We will be running a number of excursions to areas of local interest.
